☀️ Polka Dot Plants prefer bright, indirect light or partial shade.
🌡️Found in tropical environments, polka dot plants prefer warmer temperatures and higher humidity. Temperatures between 65°F and 85°F are ideal, but they can handle slightly higher or lower temperatures for short periods. Humidity around 60% is preferred, but the plants will thrive in anything above 40%.
💧Water every week, allowing the top 1/2" of soil to dry out between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light. Some signs of overwatering include yellowing leaves and black stems, while under watered plants will wilt and their potting mix will dry out.
💊 It's best to fertilize every 4-6 weeks during the growing season. Feed during the spring and summer months with a general purpose houseplant fertilizer that has a NPK (nitrogen-phosphorous-potassium) ratio of approximately 10-10-10. For the amount to use, follow product label instructions. No fertilizer is needed during the winter months when growth naturally slows.
🪴 Most plants go dormant in the winter so It's best to not repot them then because they could go in to shook. It's best to repot every 2-3 years during the growing months of spring and summer. This plant grows well in a rich, well-drained potting mix.
🐜 Preventative maintenance Is key! Check your plants often, clean leaves by giving the occasional shower or wiping with a clean damp cloth. Use clean pots and fresh quality soil when transplanting. A spray, like mentioned above, is a really great preventative measure as well.
Follow these care tops to ensure your plant is not only surviving but thriving!
