"As a kid who grew up in Anchorage, it was seemingly common knowledge amongst Southcentral Alaskans that we "don't get thunderstorms in Alaska". When I spent a year living in the Arctic, I witnessed the kind of thunderstorms that, despite the naiveté of my fellow Anchoragites, we do get, in abundance. Lesson learned."
